Peruvian iron ore production rises in Aug y-o-y

According to the data from the Ministry of Energy and Mines of Peru (MINEM), Peru produced a total of around 1.002 million tons of iron ore in August, hiking by 29.1% compared to the previous month and up by 12.2% from the same month a year ago. This was the first time for Peru to have an output exceeding 1 million tons this year.
In the first eight months of this year, the country’s iron ore production amounted to approximately 4.61 million tons, a year-on-year reduction of 25.7%. Among them, Shougang Hierro Perú, the largest domestic iron ore producer, accounted for 97.2% of the total output in August.
