South Africa makes preliminary ruling of safeguard measure on steel hexagon bolts

According to the announcement issued by the WTO on September 16, 2020, the International Trade Administration Commission of South Africa (ITAC), on behalf of the Southern African Customs Union (SACU), decided to impose a provisional ad valorem safeguard duty on imports of bolts with hexagon heads of iron or steel from October 2, 2020 at a rate of 31.8%.

The subject products are under tariff subheading 7318.15.43. The duration of the provisional safeguard measure is 200 days.

The members of the SACU include Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, South Africa, and Swaziland.
