Vedanta Resources to sell copper mine in Queenstown, Australia

It was reported that Indian company Vedanta Resources wanted to sell the copper mine operation located Mount Lyell in Queenstown district, South Australia due to the impact of COIVD-19 restrictions.

Mount Lyell copper mine has been shut down since 2014 for a big incident and had the plan to recommence operation this February but finally put on hold. The yearly output was about 73,000 tons of refined copper.

Vedanta Resources so far operated a refinery and rod plants in Silvassa, western India. The total production of copper cathode was around 77,000 tons for the fiscal year ending this March.
