Brazil to promote environmental permits for mining projects

It was reported that the Brazilian government announced a decree this week in order to facilitate the acquisition of environmental permits for mining projects.

The decree stated that the major mineral projects that comply with the national concession and infrastructure plan, investment and partnership plan, will receive the support of the Secretariat.

The Brazilian government stated that the secretariat will follow the environmental permit application process for these projects to mitigate risks and resolve possible problems and conflicts. In addition, an inter-ministerial secretariat was planned to be responsible for reviewing projects.
