It was reported that the United States International Trade Commission (USITC) announced that it would initiate a preliminary phase of anti-dumping and countervailing duty investigation on standard welded steel wire mesh from Mexico for alleged unfair trade practices.

The Commission must reach a preliminary determination in these investigations in 45 days, which meant before August 14 of this year. Subsequently, the Commission's opinions must be transmitted to the US Department of Commerce (USDOC) within five days of the determination.

The US imported this product from Mexico totaling US$15.9 million from January to May of this year.
