ISSF: Global stainless steel production reduces in Q1 y-o-y

According to the statistics released by the International Stainless Steel Forum (ISSF), global stainless steel production reached around 12.5 million tons in the first quarter of this year, reducing by 2.5% compared to the same period a year earlier, while up by 5.4% from the previous quarter.
Among them, the production from China was down by 1.5% year on year to around 6.4 million tons, a quarter-on-quarter increase of 4.4%; that from Asia (excluding China and South Korea) fell by 5.7% year on year to around 1.96 million tons, a quarter-on-quarter decrease of 1.1%; that from the EU dropped by 5.7% from the same period last year to around 1.9 million tons, a quarter-on-quarter increase of 8.7%; that from the US had a year-on-year reduction of 2% to around 700,000 tons, a quarter-on-quarter growth of 12.7%; that from other countries was up by 2% year on year, rising by 11.9% from last quarter.
