Worldsteel: Global crude steel production drops in Jun y-o-y

According to statistics from the World Steel Association (worldsteel), global crude steel production totaled roughly 151 million tons in June, falling by 5.8% compared to the same month a year ago.

Among them, Asia's crude steel production reached about 113 million tons, sliding by 6% year on year, of which China's output accounted for 83 million tons, falling by 9% year on year. The crude steel production from 27 EU countries was around 10 million tons, falling by 8% year on year. The CIS countries produced nearly 7 million tons, down by 9% year on year.

During the period, North American crude steel output was roughly 8.7 million tons, going up by 1.2% year on year; South American output was 3.5 million tons, growing by 1.3% year on year. Crude steel production in Africa went up by 3% year on year to roughly 2 million tons, and the output in the Middle East fell by 5% year on year to 4.3 million tons.

In the first six months of this year, global crude steel output amounted to roughly 934 million tons, a year-on-year reduction of 2%.
