Vallourec's decarbonisation pathway earns GSCC certification

The Global Steel Climate Council (GSCC) has certified Vallourec's science-based decarbonisation pathway as aligned with its Steel Climate Standard, a framework that supports the goals of the Paris Agreement.

An independent assessment by CARES, a GSCC-approved certifier, confirmed Vallourec's Corporate Average Steel Emissions Intensity (CASEI) at 1.70 metric tons of CO₂e per ton of hot-rolled steel for its 2021 baseline.

Through its decarbonisation efforts, the company has since lowered that figure to 1.16 tCO₂e per ton in 2025, comfortably beating the GSCC's 2030 threshold of 1.20 tCO₂e per ton.

Vallourec has built on more than 20 years of climate strategy, having met its previous emissions reduction targets three years early before adopting this new GSCC-aligned pathway.

Looking ahead to 2030, the company aims to cut the carbon footprint of its finished tubes by 30% and reduce its overall Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions by 25%, both compared to 2021 levels.
