US’ steel scrap exports slide in Mar m-o-m, y-o-y

According to the latest data from the US International Trade Commission (USITC), the US exported around 931,000 tons of steel scrap in March, falling by 12% from the previous month and by 19% from the same month a year ago.

Among them, Turkey was the top destination with roughly 311,000 tons, up by 1.5% month on month and by 21% from a year earlier. Other major markets included India (123,000 tons), Taiwan (84,000 tons), and Mexico (65,000 tons).

In the month, these exports were worth around US$416 million, sliding by 3.5% month on month and by 22%.
