US raises HDG steel exports in May m-o-m

US’ hot-dip galvanized (HDG) steel exports totaled around 103,000 tons in May, hiking by 7% from the previous month but falling by 22% from the same month a year ago, according to statistics from the US Department of Commerce (USDOC).

Mexico was the top export destination with procurement of roughly 62,100 tons, down by 1.9% month on month and by 13% year on year. Canada ranked second with 40,400 tons, and exports to other destinations were relatively low.

The value of these imports was nearly US$152 million, a month-on-month rise of 5.6% and a year-on-year fall of 19%.
