US demand drives rebound in Taiwan’s fastener exports in May

16 Jun 2026 16:30 reported by Joy Liu

A A A
Taiwan’s fastener exports recovered to 98,184 tons in May, up by 9.64% month on month, a yearly peak achieved after shipments previously sank below 90,000 tons to a thirteen-year low. Increased shipments to the US primarily generated this volume growth, as exports to Taiwan's largest market expanded by 16.6% compared to April.

Despite this monthly recovery, the outbound shipments in May contracted by 17.15% relative to the same period last year, continuing a ten-month sequence of year-over-year declines. Overall volume remained below the 100,000-ton threshold for nine consecutive months.

Cumulatively, fastener export volumes for the first five months of the year reached 471,539 tons, a 12.71% reduction when compared to the corresponding five-month period from last year.
