Turkey’s Ekinciler Demir Celik adopts Danieli endless rolling technology

Turkish steelmaker Ekinciler Demir Celik has selected Danieli to provide a sixth-generation Horizontal Billet Welder (HBW) for its facility. This project introduces the first endless-rolling operation in Turkey by joining billets head-to-tail. The system handles up to 180 tons per hour and fits into the current mill layout with minimal downtime.

By removing billet gaps, the K-Welding technology increases material yield and lowers operational costs. The new design requires 50% less cleaning and features a cartridge-based system for faster maintenance. This upgrade also helps sustainability by cutting energy use and waste per ton.

Operations are scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2027.
