Tenaris completed its heaviest and longest heat-treated 2-5/8” OD BlueCoil® string to date, weighing 88 metric tons. CUDD Pressure Control ordered the equipment for an extended-reach completion project, which exceeded previous weight boundaries at the Houston production facility.

Standard shale applications use strings weighing between 55 and 60 metric tons, meaning this order required facility upgrades to handling equipment and accumulator capacity. To manage the manufacturing process, teams altered internal material routing and utilized a specialized crane.

The finalized product has arrived in Oklahoma for operations in the Mid-Continent region. Wenceslao Pigretti, Coiled Tubing at Tenaris, said the project showcases the facility's capabilities, as the team delivered the heavy design on time and to exact specifications.
