Tata Steel UK builds new pickling line at Port Talbot facility

According to a statement from Tata Steel UK, they are currently constructing a new 1.8 million ton pickling line at their Port Talbot plant, which is an important component of the £1.25 billion investment in low-carbon steel production.

Due to the current assets reaching their useful life, it is necessary to replace the pickling line to process many of the steel materials requested by customers.

At present, the factory has started dismantling old floors and air ducts, and will install new production foundations in April next year.

According to the demand in the US, Tata Steel purchased slabs from British Steel. The US insists that steel must be 'melted and cast' in the UK to qualify for tariff exemptions. Later, Britain postponed negotiations with the US on steel tariffs under certain quotas and reached a permanent agreement with a 25% tariff level.
