Taiwan's stainless steel mills expected to maintain prices for May

24 Apr 2025 15:25 reported by Claude Tseng

Taiwan's leading stainless steel mills will announce their new prices for May next week. Recently, LME nickel futures and spot prices increased close to US$15,500/ton. However, China's stainless steel price dropped, and the demand was weak. Meanwhile, Taiwan saw a lot of cheap imported materials from Vietnam, threatening local order takings.

As a result, downstream customers suggested keeping the price or reducing the price for May. Mills still have some days to consider for new price. It was expected that mills might maintain the price in order to stabilize the price in the market. Mills might also adopt individual negotiation prices.
