Taiwan’s rebar market softens with limited transactions ahead of typhoon

9 Jul 2026 15:22 reported by Joy Liu

A A A
Taiwanese rebar mills lowered quotes and offered special project rates to secure orders, yet transaction volumes remained low across northern and southern regions. Despite deeper concessions from mills, the purchasing response remained weak.

With Typhoon Bavi approaching, distributors paused inquiries and deferred additional purchases. Many buyers anticipate further downward market corrections and see no signs of a rebound, driving a cautious wait-and-see attitude.

Frequent stock shifting and mill inventory checks indicate a critical trading period will arrive soon. Market participants said that unchecked regional competition between northern and southern mills could ultimately dampen buying sentiment.
