Taiwan's pig iron imports plummet in Aug m-o-m

15 Sep 2025 15:03 reported by Joy Liu

A A A
According to customs statistics, Taiwan's pig iron imports dropped sharply in August, falling by 85% from July to just 3,476 tons, due to reduced demand from domestic steel mills, which have scaled back production amid a decrease in orders for finished steel products.

The primary sources of Taiwan's pig iron imports in August were Brazil and Germany, supplying 1,269 tons and 1,080 tons, respectively. The drop in local demand has also led to fewer international offers for pig iron.
