China Steel Corporation (CSC), a carbon steel producer in Taiwan, announced its domestic price adjustments for October and the fourth quarter, implementing widespread increases. Monthly products increased by NT$500 to 600 per ton, while fourth-quarter products ranged from flat to an upward adjustment of NT$600 per ton.

For October, hot-rolled steel coils for re-rolling, hot-rolled steel plates and coils for general use, and cold-rolled steel coils for general use rose by NT$600 per ton. Electro-galvanized coils for construction and hot-dip galvanized coils for construction and pre-painting increased by NT$500 per ton.

In the fourth-quarter category, steel plates for shipbuilding, A36, SS400, and SM570 series, plus other steel plates, and medium-low grade electrical steel coils hiked by NT$500 per ton. Anti-fingerprint electro-galvanized coils and hot-dip galvanized coils for home appliances, computers, and other uses gained NT$600 per ton. Conversely, wire rods, medium-high carbon and tool steel hot-rolled and cold-rolled coils, high-grade electrical steel coils, and automotive materials remained unchanged.

Market participants indicated that surging metallurgical coal expenses, international crude prices, and tighter overseas supply from US import restrictions and the European Union's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) drove these upward price revisions, reflecting rising production costs despite sluggish domestic demand.
