South Africa launches safeguard probe into cold-rolled steel imports

South Africa's International Trade Administration Commission (ITAC) has launched a safeguard investigation into imports of cold-rolled steel products following an application from local producer ArcelorMittal South Africa.

The products under investigation include flat-rolled products of iron, non-alloy steel or other alloy steel (excluding stainless steel), whether or not in coils, including cut-to-length products and narrow strip. The products are cold-rolled (cold-reduced) only, with no further processing, and are not clad, plated or coated. These subject goods are under HS 7209.15, 7209.16, 7209.17, 7209.18, 7209.25, 7209.26, 7209.27, 7209.90, 7211.23, 7211.29, 7211.90, and 7225.50.

The investigation period for this case is from January 1, 2023 to December 31, 2025.
