Primetals Technologies has secured an order from Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) to supply a fourth internal-combustion-chamber-type stove to blast furnace No. 5 at the Rourkela Steel Plant in India, aimed at enabling sequential repairs to existing stoves while maintaining production levels.

Primetals will be responsible for the design, engineering, equipment supply, and commissioning of the project, which features a dome-shaped internal combustion technology designed to efficiently manage expansion and high temperatures.

The company’s unique burner design, which ensures a more stable flame, will also be incorporated.

Commissioning of the new stove is planned for mid-2026, marking a significant step for Rourkela Steel Plant to enhance operational efficiency.
