Pakistan's National Tariff Commission (NTC) will expand its existing anti-dumping (AD) duties to include galvalume steel coils/sheets from China, in order to address concerns that these imports circumvent previous AD measures on galvanized steel coils/sheets.

The decision was based on an application filed by domestic producers International Steels Limited and International Steels Limited. The NTC found that galvalume steel, which is physically and functionally similar to galvanized steel, had a surge in imports after the AD measure on galvanized steel was imposed in 2018. This increase coincided with a drop in galvanized steel imports, suggesting an evasion of earlier AD duties.

The NTC determined that Chinese galvalume steel imports constitute a circumvention of the existing AD duties on galvanized steel. Therefore, a 40.47% AD duty, previously applied to galvanized steel from China, will now also apply to Chinese galvalume steel, effective immediately until February 8, 2027.

The subject products are commonly known as galvalume steel coils /sheets, alu-zinc steel, zinc-aluminum steel, classified under Pakistan Customs Tariff heading numbers 7210.6110, 7210.6190, 7210.6910, and 7210.6990.
