Nucor keeps hot-rolled steel spot price unchanged at $1,130 per short ton

Nucor Corporation, the largest steel producer in the US, announced yesterday (July 6) that its consumer spot price (CSP) for hot-rolled coil (HRC) will stay at US$1,130 per short ton for the upcoming week.

This decision represents the first back-to-back weekly price freeze by the North Carolina-based steel producer since January 5. The steady pricing interrupts a continuous 23-week period of price hikes that concluded on June 22. Over that multi-week upward run, the steelmaker added a total of US$380 per short ton to its hot-rolled steel prices.

Besides, California Steel Industries (CSI), Nucor’s West Coast joint venture, also maintained its hot-rolled consumer spot price at US$1,180 per short ton.
