Norsk Hydro plans to close French extrusion plant in 2026

5 Mar 2026 15:35 reported by Ailsa Su

Norsk Hydro announced plans to close its extrusion plant in Lucé, France, later this year as part of efforts to streamline its European operations and strengthen competitiveness.

The proposed closure would affect around 80 employees, with formal consultations set to begin soon; if approved, the plant will shut down in 2026.

The company cited continued challenges in the European market as the reason for further restructuring measures. This follows Hydro’s November 2025 announcement to close five other extrusion plants in Europe, including two in the UK, scheduled to cease operations in the second quarter of 2026.

The adjacent aluminum recycling facility in Lucé will not be affected by the decision.
