Mexico will formally seek an exemption from the US government's 50% tariffs on steel and aluminum imports.

On June 3, Mexico’s Economy Minister Marcelo Ebrard announced plans to present arguments on Friday for Mexico’s exclusion from the doubled steel tariffs.

Ebrard emphasized that the new policy would hurt industries such as automotive, construction, and electronics. As a key supplier in these sectors, Mexico warns that the tariff hike could severely harm its economy.
