Jindal (India) Limited has received approval from the Odisha government for a new Rs 3,600 crore steel project. The first phase, part of a larger Rs 15,000 crore investment plan in Odisha by 2030, will establish a plant focusing on special coated steel products.

The facility, scheduled to be operational by 2027, will include a cold rolling mill, continuous galvanizing line, and color coating line, aiming for an annual capacity of 960,000 tons of steel sheets.

Additionally, its wholly-owned subsidiary Jindal India Steel Tech Limited (JISTL) will expand the Odisha plant's total flat product capacity to 3 million tons annually by 2030. A steel pipe manufacturing facility with a 200,000-ton annual capacity will also be built. This project is expected to boost domestic manufacturing and create jobs.
