Turkish Sivas Demir Çelik İşletmeleri A.Ş. (SİDEMİR) needs a US$50 million capital injection to resume operations at its idle facility.

The company suspended production four years ago and accumulated 3 billion Turkish lira in public and employee debts, prompting the Bursa 17th High Criminal Court to transfer its management to the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund.

Plant officials opened the site to journalists, saying that production could recommence within six months if funding is secured.

Operating with an annual capacity of 720,000 tons of square billets, the facility previously served domestic and international markets. A successful restart would create employment for at least 450 workers.
