Hydnum Steel obtained a EUR 150 million investment commitment from COFIDES via the Co-investment Fund (FOCO) to construct the Iberian Peninsula's first clean steel facility in Puertollano. This funding is part of an over EUR 1.5 billion financial strategy consisting of roughly EUR 600 million in equity and EUR 1 billion in debt.

The installation will eliminate fossil fuels by utilizing electric arc furnaces powered by green hydrogen and 100% renewable electricity, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by up to 98% relative to conventional blast furnaces.

Construction is scheduled to begin by the end of 2026. Furthermore, the development expects to generate more than 5,000 total jobs, divided between 1,000 direct technical positions and 4,000 indirect roles, driving regional reindustrialization.
