Hoa Phat expands fleet with new 110,000 DWT bulk carrier, named The Momentum

On July 2, 2025, Hoa Phat Group launched "The Momentum," its largest vessel at 110,000 deadweight tonnage (DWT). This bulk carrier, operated by Hoa Phat Shipping Joint Stock Company, raises cargo capacity by nearly 40% compared to their 80,000 DWT Kamsarmax ships.

The launch meets Hoa Phat's strategy to expand its maritime transport fleet and prepare for increased production at the Hoa Phat Dung Quat Iron and Steel Integrated Complex. The Momentum will facilitate importing large volumes of raw materials such as iron ore and coal from international markets, docking at deep-water ports like Dung Quat.

This investment aims to create a more proactive raw material supply chain, reducing reliance on outsourced transportation and controlling logistics costs.

Hoa Phat plans to diversify its fleet to 15-20 vessels, serving both internal needs and external partners as the company strives to become a top-30 global steel manufacturer.
