Century Aluminum has finalized the sale of its Hawesville, Kentucky facility to TeraWulf Inc., which will repurpose the location into a digital infrastructure campus.

The new hub will support high-performance computing and artificial intelligence tasks, adding approximately 1.5 gigawatts of capacity to TeraWulf’s portfolio alongside a second acquisition in Maryland.

While TeraWulf leads the redevelopment, Century Aluminum maintains a minority equity stake in the project. This transition is expected to provide the region with numerous construction and permanent skilled jobs.

The sale is in line with Century Aluminum’s strategy to invest in domestic production, including a new 750,000MT smelter in Oklahoma and expansion in South Carolina. This move ensures the former industrial site remains a productive economic contributor to the Kentucky community.
