Baosteel has successfully commissioned its new No. 6 2-strand slab caster at its Shanghai plant, supplied by Primetals Technologies. 

The continuous slab caster has a designed annual production capacity of 2.35 million tons and is capable of producing both conventional and high-end slabs. 

The No. 6 slab caster is one of three continuous casting machines ordered by Baosteel from Primetals Technologies approximately two years ago. 

The successful start-up marks another milestone in Baosteel's efforts to enhance its manufacturing capabilities and expand the production of premium steel products, further strengthening its competitiveness in the global steel market.
