Baker Hughes: US & Canada’s rig counts slide w-o-w

According to the report from Baker Hughes, in the week ending on May 9, 2025, the US rig count fell by six to 578 units compared to the previous week. Among them, the number of drilling rigs for natural gas kept flat at 101 units, and that for oil decreased by five to 474 units. The total number had a year-on-year decline of 25 units.

During the same period, Canada’s rig count dropped by six to 114 units from the previous week, including 68 oil rigs (down by six week on week) and 46 gas rigs (unchanged by one week on week). Canada’s rig number fell by two units compared to the same period a year ago.
