Baker Hughes: US & Canada’s rig counts increase w-o-w

According to the report from Baker Hughes, in the week ending on December 5, 2025, the US rig count rose by five to 549 units compared to the previous week. Among them, the number of drilling rigs for natural gas fell by one to 129 units, and that for oil hiked by six to 413 units. The total number had a year-on-year decline of 40 units.

During the same period, Canada’s rig count increased by three to 191 units from the previous week, including 126 oil rigs (up by five week on week) and 65 gas rigs (down by two week on week). Canada’s rig number dropped by three units compared to the same period a year ago.
