The Argentine steelmaker Acindar has transformed its energy strategy, moving from being a mere consumer to becoming a generator. With the San Luis Norte hybrid wind farm, it already supplies 35% of its energy demand with its own renewable energy, seeking predictability and efficiency in its operating costs.

Acindar's goal is to reach over 65% renewable energy supply by 2027 through the new Olavarría Wind Farm. This US$275 million investment not only reduces emissions intensity but also positions the company as a benchmark for competitiveness and sustainability within the steel sector.

Despite this success, the company's CEO, Federico Amos, warns that industrial expansion requires a more robust national electricity grid. Although the company finances key infrastructure, the lack of public expansion in the national electricity system represents a structural limitation to future growth.
