ArcelorMittal Belgium has concluded the information and consultation process regarding the planned closure of its Tailored Blanks division at the Ghent plant.

The company previously cited sustained financial losses and weakening European automotive output as key reasons for the proposed shutdown.

During the consultation, management outlined its restructuring plan, while employee representatives submitted questions and alternative proposals in a constructive dialogue.

A jointly agreed social plan, approved by more than 70% of affected staff, is intended to facilitate the transition. The final decision will now be submitted to the company’s board for review.
