ArcelorMittal Brazil approved an investment of R$4 billion to R$5 billion to install a cold strip mill and a continuous coating line at its Tubarão unit in Serra, Espírito Santo.

Construction is scheduled to begin in 2026, take around three and a half years, and reach completion in the first half of 2030, generating up to 3,000 peak construction jobs and 450 operational positions.

The new continuous coating line will process hot-rolled coils into 560,000 tons annually of metallic-coated cold-rolled products.

Jorge Oliveira, president of ArcelorMittal Brazil and CEO of ArcelorMittal Aços Planos LATAM, said that the project strengthens participation in high value-added automotive, construction, and white goods markets.
