India's Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) is exploring the acquisition of Associated British Ports (ABP), Britain's largest ports operator. The deal would be Adani's first major investment in the UK if completed.

ABP owns and operates 21 ports in England, Scotland and Wales, including Immingham and Southampton. Its facilities account for about 25% of the UK's maritime trade, and the company also supports more than 50% of Britain's offshore wind sector through operations and maintenance services.

The proposed transaction involves a combined 63.88% stake owned by Canada's Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB) and Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (OMERS), which are reportedly considering a sale.

The business is valued at more than £10 billion. APSEZ said it continuously reviews opportunities that fit its long-term strategy.
