India initiates first AD sunset review on China’s aluminum foil

On September 16, 2021, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of India announced to initiate the first anti-dumping (AD) sunset review investigation on aluminum foil originating in or imported from China, following the application filed by Hindalco Industries Limited, Raviraj Foils Limited, and Jindal (India) Limited.

The product involved is aluminum foil whether or not printed or backed with paper, paper board, plastics or similar backing materials of a thickness ranging from 5.5 microns to 80 microns, classified under HS codes 760711, 76071110, 76071190, 760719, 76071910, 76071991, 76071992, 76071993, 76071994, 76071995, 76071999, 760720, and 76072010.

The period of investigation was from April 1, 2020 to March 31, 2021 (12 months), and the injury investigation period was from 2017 to 2018, 2018 to 2019, 2019 to 2020, and April 1, 2020 to March 31, 2021.

The initial AD investigation of this case was launched on December 15, 2015.
