Caterpillar acquired Skycatch, a mining-tech firm using AI and high-resolution spatial data for near-real-time digital twins, to enhance its MineStar and RPM platforms. No deal terms were disclosed.

The move follows Caterpillar's recent RPMGlobal purchase and targets better material movement, operational planning, and support for both crewed and autonomous fleets. Skycatch's technology speeds up data processing, enabling faster plan adjustments and more accurate site views.

The group president emphasized improved safety, productivity, and predictability, with Skycatch's founder noting stronger customer value under Caterpillar's umbrella.
