According to customs data, Taiwan’s scrap imports totaled around 117,200 tons in January, a sharp decrease of approximately 50% compared to December last year. Among these imports, the source from the US saw a significant month-on-month reduction of 48%, falling to around 51,500 tons.

Besides, imports from Japan and the Dominican Republic totaled about 26,600 tons and 12,300 tons, respectively.

In terms of exports, Taiwan exported 1,634 tons of scrap in January, a month-on-month drop of 19%, with the primary destinations of India (640 tons) and Vietnam (466 tons).
