Ukraine’s ferrous scrap exports soar in Jan-Sep y-o-y, with surged export value

According to statistics from the State Customs Service of Ukraine, Ukraine’s ferrous scrap exports amounted to around 202,400 tons in the first nine months of this year, significantly rising by 54% compared to the corresponding period a year ago. The value generated by these exports totaled US$64.7 million, up by 71% year on year.

Among them, exports to Poland accounted for the largest share, totaling around 174,000 tons. The supply to Greece and Germany was 22,180 tons and 5,510 tons, respectively.

In the January-September period, the monthly exports averaged 22,490 tons, 54% higher than the volume in 2023.

In September alone, Ukraine’s ferrous scrap exports fell 13% month on month but surged by 81% year on year to approximately 24,800 tons. The export value dropped by 17% month on month and soared by 112% year on year to US$7.66 million.
