Albemarle creates new process to enhance lithium production

12 Jun 2019 15:36 reported by Dani Wang

A A A
According to the report, a US-based company producer for lithium in Chile has recently discovered new methods of extracting 30% more lithium. As a world leader in the production of lithium, they will be able to produce higher yields of lithium while using the same amount of raw materials (brine).

Currently, only 50% of the raw materials mined can be used from the Atacama Desert. By increasing the output, they will be able to use fewer resources.

The technology Albemarle has developed was to use the evaporated salt from normal industry extraction then taking out the lithium that was contained in it for further production. The salt will be placed in new production and increase the output.

This new process will be the first-time recycled material that will be used in lithium production.
